According to Transparency International Australia, Australia has slid 8 points in the global corruption ranking, since 2012. Australia is now ranked 11th place.
To prevent sliding down further in the rankings, Australia must:-
- Ensure Institution watchdogs and regulators are well resourced
- Ensure government contracts should be open and transparent, free from conflict of interests, and fairly priced
- Defend democracy, and allow a mechanism for the people to hold the government accountable
- Publish relevant data, allow access to information freely in a timely and meaningful manner.
