We Need Change
About Us
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Margaret Mead
We are a group of concerned women across Australia who feel it is time to, not only, speak out and step up.
For decades, we have watched attempts in dealing with increases in domestic violence, sexual abuse, child trafficking, paedophilia, discrimination, abuse of power and government rorts only to realise that we have been going round and round in circles. The problems are never really dealt with, only the perception prevails.
We have been distracted by the conversations, the committees, the review of processes, enquiries and increased funding resources to superficially address these problems focusing on culture or education. Yet on the whole the problems remain, some progress is made for a while, but in reality nothing much changes.
We need to move the spotlight on the fundamental problem which is in effect structural, within government – parliament, judiciary and legislature, the very law makers and law enforcers are very much part of the problem.
In 2017, Senator Heffernan addressed a Senate Committee stating we needed a Royal Commission into the Law, as the law “is compromised at the very highest level”. We are still waiting for the government response, nothing has changed. No parliamentarian of any persuasion has pushed for Senator’s Heffernan’s recommendation.
Why is that? Because it will “open up a can of worms”.
We, as a community, have said “Enough Is Enough” many times , we have marched in the streets, now it is the time for real change and real action.
Support our petition for an Independent Commission of Inquiry in the Institution of the Law of this country.
